It would be misleading to say that this birth has come easy, but we hope it comes with a loaf of bread under its arm for the planet and especially for our cities. The new classic Mini is about to be born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the beginning of the pregnancy, the complications came with the homologation, where the laboratories insisted in each test of our prototype (in this case with the Renault Twingo) that we had to rest a lot, that we had to be patient, that we had to rest and let time pass. But after a lot of effort and expense, we managed to get it homologated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then came the ITV, who had never seen a delivery like this before, and they started to panic about the unknown so as not to assist us in the delivery with excuses like, the documentation is not printed in the colour of ink we are used to, and the like... but after much more effort, we managed to come to an agreement and use the ink and type of paper required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, more complications came in the following weeks of pregnancy with batteries, where some time ago the European Union issued a new R100 regulation, to warn us that batteries could no longer be installed without type approval in electric vehicles throughout Europe. And all EU manufacturers are queuing up to get their batteries approved, so once again patience, we can't cater for everyone. The primary health care system is full of uncertified batteries. But we finally got approved batteries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, the birth is almost upon us, and with everything we need, we are ready to give birth to a beautiful classic Mini powered by an electric motor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we have been doing in recent times, we continue to group by car models we want to convert to electric. The Mini is the largest group, with 112 interested parties at the time of publishing this article. So let's get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We're still in the design phase, so features are still up for grabs, but it's likely to have a 90V system, with an electric motor of around 25kW, a battery pack of around 20kW and all the essence of the Mini, ready to drive with its zero emissions sticker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technically, aspects will still change, but broadly speaking this will be the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And how much will it cost? Let's hope that it will be as affordable as possible for classic Mini lovers, and let's also hope that by the time the kit is homologated and available, the government will have released more aid for the conversion of vehicles to electric than has already been published. Let's see if it is possible for them to give 7000\u20ac as they do with new electric vehicles, with the difference that our converted and recycled cars have used much less energy to be born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And when will it be ready? Well, we calculate a quick delivery but with great pains. Between 3 and 6 months for the prototype to be designed and working, plus another 3 to 6 months to homologate the kit.
