It would be misleading to say that this birth has come easy, but we hope it comes with a loaf of bread under its arm for the planet and especially for our cities. The new classic Mini is about to be born.
At the beginning of the pregnancy, the complications came with the homologation, where the laboratories insisted in each test of our prototype (in this case with the Renault Twingo) that we had to rest a lot, that we had to be patient, that we had to rest and let time pass. But after a lot of effort and expense, we managed to get it homologated.
Then came the ITV, who had never seen a delivery like this before, and they started to panic about the unknown so as not to assist us in the delivery with excuses like, the documentation is not printed in the colour of ink we are used to, and the like... but after much more effort, we managed to come to an agreement and use the ink and type of paper required.
Later, more complications came in the following weeks of pregnancy with batteries, where some time ago the European Union issued a new R100 regulation, to warn us that batteries could no longer be installed without type approval in electric vehicles throughout Europe. And all EU manufacturers are queuing up to get their batteries approved, so once again patience, we can't cater for everyone. The primary health care system is full of uncertified batteries. But we finally got approved batteries.
Well, the birth is almost upon us, and with everything we need, we are ready to give birth to a beautiful classic Mini powered by an electric motor.
As we have been doing in recent times, we continue to group by car models we want to convert to electric. The Mini is the largest group, with 112 interested parties at the time of publishing this article. So let's get started.
We're still in the design phase, so features are still up for grabs, but it's likely to have a 90V system, with an electric motor of around 25kW, a battery pack of around 20kW and all the essence of the Mini, ready to drive with its zero emissions sticker.
Technically, aspects will still change, but broadly speaking this will be the case.
And how much will it cost? Let's hope that it will be as affordable as possible for classic Mini lovers, and let's also hope that by the time the kit is homologated and available, the government will have released more aid for the conversion of vehicles to electric than has already been published. Let's see if it is possible for them to give 7000€ as they do with new electric vehicles, with the difference that our converted and recycled cars have used much less energy to be born.
And when will it be ready? Well, we calculate a quick delivery but with great pains. Between 3 and 6 months for the prototype to be designed and working, plus another 3 to 6 months to homologate the kit. So we hope that in no more than a year the kits will be available to enjoy, either all over Spain or all over Europe.

Hello, congratulations for your work, I am owner of a classic mini, the last one that was made in 2000 by Rover, I live in Madrid and here I can no longer use it because of the environmental label...I am considering whether to sell it or make it electric, at what stage are you in the development to make a mini, HOMOLOGATED, and indicative budget...CAN YOU MEET THE CHALLENGE?

Hello,
I have a Lexus IS220d and at present it has a faulty cylinder head gasket. As it is a diesel and more than 15 years old, I have considered converting it to electric.
How much would it cost and could you do it? And homologate everything to have your 0 emissions label.
Thank you
Hello Jordi,

Hello I have a 2cv to which I mounted an epower equipment of 7.5 kw, auto free, , lithium battery of 11kw h. We have made some progress in Spain with the homologations. In France it is not only very easy conversions, also the government finances the 40%...I would appreciate information/advice...and I offer my experience...for the moment I drive in the countryside...best regards John
Hello John,
I see that the myth is still spreading that approvals are easier in France. I have to tell you that the homologations are equally easy or difficult in all EU countries, as they all have to follow exactly the same directives. In particular, in France, Transition One are just like us, designing their kits, homologating them and bringing them out as soon as they have them. Their government, as well as ours, gives aids, so why stay with them if they already have a specific aid for conversions. In Spain last year there was already one for trucks over 3.5 tons.
If you have accurate information, where the source can be confirmed (a serious source), post it here so that everyone can be informed.
Best regards

Congratulations on your work!
It is a pity that bureaucracy does not make the economy and the country advance more and better, a pity that those who regulate have no idea about street work (nor do they care to ask).
When you watch Top Gear UK as they make their cars Frankenstein and with a £30 MOT and insurance they take it out on the road the same day you get a face....
And I think they are a world power, it's not Chiquitistan.
Greetings and patience!
I have a Suzuki Santana sj 410 and would be interested in electrifying it.
I was also looking for a mini... And also with the intention of electrifying. I would like to know if the project you are working on is for the 850 or for the 1000...
Hello Javier,
It covers several engines, as the kit is designed according to the chassis and not the specific engine. It would cover both, although we will confirm this shortly when we make the prototype public.
If you want to join the Classic Minis group, send us a message through the contact form.
